Alesha Dixon Visits Highgate Primary

At the beginning of term, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge and singer, Alesha Dixon, visited Highgate Primary School to lead a workshop introducing her children’s books: ‘Lightening Girl’ and ‘Lightening Girl 2 Superhero Squad’, as well as signing books for the excited pupils.

Lightening Girl, the first in the series, is a laugh-out-loud, high-voltage, action-packed adventure series from Alesha Dixon, written in collaboration with Katy Birchall.

Alesha explained why she wrote the books: “My inspiration to create a superhero called Lightning Girl began with wanting my young daughter to feel empowered. It’s been a dream to create a strong role model that any child can look up to – I want my readers to see themselves in Aurora, who is dealing with trouble at home and trouble at school alongside her new powers.”

Alesha was a wonderful visitor.  She spoke at length to each and every child and parent who lined up to get their book signed and had a kind word to say to everyone.  Alesha’s sense of humour was infectious and her visit was a real highlight in our first week back to school. We look forward to welcoming her back when Books 3 and 4 in the Lightening Girl series are published.
